One of the reasons I have grown to love Columbia, South Carolina so much is the boutique shopping scene. Columbia may not have a lot of big name stores (Lord, please bestow upon us a Nordstrom in the near, near future), but the boutiques are thriving. One of the cutest streets for shopping is Devine Street, and one of the very best gems you will find there is Pout, a boutique cosmetics and skincare shop that is as beautiful as it is useful.

Pout fills a void in the Columbia makeup market, selling high-end products not sold at Sephora or Ulta. While they do overlap some (i.e. NARS, Smashbox, Stila), Pout is your go-to in Columbia for brands such as Jouer, Chantecaille, and Kevyn Aucoin. It isn't just useful for it's hard-to-find makeup, though; Pout carries all of your other beauty essentials, including body products, hair care, fragrances, men's products, tools and brushes, nail products, and even loungewear. It's an excellent place to find a gift for a girlfriend or mom if you can resist treating yourself along the way! Pout also offers a variety of services, from microdermabrasian to waxing to spray tanning.

Pout deserves a shout-out any time of year, but the real reason it is being featured here today is that it is the absolute best time to stop by: the summer sale! Although not every product in the store is included in the sale, the savings are HUGE. I am not sure of the full range of markdowns, but every product I purchased and most that I perused were 50% off.
So, what did I find? After spending far too much time playing around with all they had to offer, I ended up choosing three products. I probably would have gotten more if I hadn't very recently (as in, like, 2 days ago) gone on a bit of a Sephora spree. Self-restraint is an acquired skill; I'm working on it.
The first two products I snagged were from Stila. I had never tried any Stila base products, so when I saw that their Sheer Pressed Powder was included in the sale and that what looks like my shade, Light, was still available, I snatched it right up.

The other Stila product I grabbed was one of their Single Eye Shadows in the shade Golightly. Mid-tone shimmery bronze shadows are my kryptonite.

The last product I picked up is from Jouer Cosmetics, a brand I know a good deal about from the internet but that I have never actually tried. I was instantly drawn to the Lip Sheer in the shade Antigua. These lipsticks have SPF in them, as well as Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, and they claim to moisturize, nourish, and protect the lips while providing a sheer wash of color - a summer lip product if I ever saw one!

My advice? Hurry to Pout as soon as you can and treat yourself. I learned last year (when I arrived at the sale a little too late in the game) that products go QUICKLY, so I would definitely recommend getting there sooner rather than later.
