Multitasking Face Products
9:53:00 AM3 options that can save you time, (maybe) money, and space in your makeup bag
Many of us consider multitasking to be one of the keys to success - half the time, twice the outcome. It makes perfect sense, then, that makeup companies have caught on and have started coming out with more and more multitasking products, designed to condense your makeup routine into less steps. Some of these concepts are just gimmicks (foundations that claim to perform as a primer, moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, AND concealer never really live up to any of those claims), but I have really grown to appreciate singular products that incorporate more than one kind of makeup. In particular, I love the palette model: stick as many products as you can in one, sleek package. The best part about these is the space-saving, especially for travel. It's also great for those of us who get tired of pulling out more and more products: one grab gets you several different items. However, some of these kinds of products sacrifice quality for quantity, so it's important to get the right ones. I have found the most success with those that focus on powder face products, such as blush, bronzer, and highlighter. These kinds of products can really save you money, too, even if you go for the more expensive options. The multitasking products are almost always less expensive than buying the products individually, and often they are as much as 1/2 or 1/3 the price. Yes, please!
Here are three multitasking face products that have my stamp of approval:
Most Budget Friendly: Rimmel London Kate Sculpting and Highlighting Kit
If you bought the 3 products separately from Rimmel: around $15.00
A lot of drugstore brands have tried to emulate these 3-in-1 face kits, but most have also failed. Thankfully, Rimmel's latest attempt is actually a winner. In general, Rimmel's Kate Moss collections are very well done, and this is no exception. The packaging is pretty and sleek, and the sizes of the products are appropriate and proportional to the size brush you will be using to apply them. I don't recommend the lightest palette ("Golden Sands 001") unless you like a ton of shimmer in your bronzer, but the medium ("Coral Glow" 002) and deep ("Golden Bronze" 003) shades are extremely nice and should suit several skin tones. The medium palette is the one I have, pictured above, and it is subtle, but great for every day. I like to use the "Contour" shade as a regular bronzer, but if you're looking for a contour powder, these are cool-toned enough to do the job.
Mid-Level Price: Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette
If you bought the three products separately from Urban Decay: around $85.00
This was my first love when it comes to multitasking face products, and you can tell by how much I have used it! There are several shades, but mine ("Streak") is ideal for fair-skinned girls. The bronzer is light but the perfect tone, the blush is a beautiful coral, and the highlighter is lovely. The bronzer in this one is definitely a warmer bronzer, so it is not suitable for contouring, but does a great job warming up the skin. This has accompanied me on many trips, and I don't find myself wishing I had any other face products.
Most Expensive: Charlotte Tillbury "Filmstar Bronze and Glow" Face Sculpt and Highlight
If you bought the two separately from Charlotte Tillbury: around $85.00
Unfortunately, this one skips out on including the blush, and it's the most expensive. However, I feel that it's worth the mention, as it's one of my very favorite high-end products. Both the bronzer and the highlighter are top-notch quality, and you get a huge amount of each of the products. The mirror is amazing, too, which seems kind of random but actually comes in handy when you're traveling. Also, I have (on more than one occasion) used these as eyeshadows for a quick two-shadow look, and they work great. If you REALLY needed to pack light, this could multitask in that way too.
