The best Drugstore eyeshadow palette ever!
It's no secret on this blog that I am not usually very impressed by Drugstore brands' eyeshadow palettes. Unlike other types of products (mascaras, foundations, etc.) they just never seem to measure up to their more expensive counterparts. Despite my preconceptions, I picked up an enticing new eyeshadow palette from Rimmel recently, and was amazed to find that it is SO great!
Rimmel London Magnif'Eyes Shadow Eyeshadow Contouring Palette
At first glance, it's very apparent that Rimmel modeled this palette after a very well-known, more expensive palette - the Urban Decay Naked. A bit later in this post, I'll be showing you just how similar those two palettes are!
This line has 3 different palettes in it, but I went for this one, "Keep Calm and Wear Gold," because it looked the most like my favorite Naked palette: the original. The other two in the line, "London Nudes Calling" and "Grunge Glamour" are a little less neutral and therefore weren't of as much interest to me.
Because I could go on and on about why I love this palette so much, I'm going to organize my thoughts to keep it concise:
-The quality: these eyeshadows perform just as well as 99% of my high-end eyeshadows, and even better than many I have tried. They go on with strong pigment, blend amazingly well, and stay on and looking fresh all day long.
-The shade selection: yes, the shade selection is based nearly exactly on the Naked palette, but I would go as far as to say I like this one better. The biggest differences, in my eyes, are in the 5th and 7th shades from the left in the Rimmel palette. The 5th shade, which corresponds with "Buck" in the Naked palette, is slightly more cool toned, making it even better for me. I prefer a cooler toned brown color for the crease, and this one is ideal. The 7th shade, which corresponds with "Smog" in the Naked palette, is significantly more cool toned - while Smog is more of a true bronze, this one incorporates a lot more taupe. That's a color I felt was missing from the Naked palette, so I loved having it here!
-The packaging: it's super simple, plastic packaging, but there is no wasted space and it will take up very little room in a makeup bag. I also love that it's see-through on the top so that you can see what you're getting before you open it.
-The price: this palette is $7.99 at Walgreens, and the Urban Decay Naked palette is $54.00 at Sephora. The quality of these two palettes is so crazy close that I would say everyone should choose the Rimmel over the Urban Decay. You could purchase SEVEN of these palettes for almost the same price as one of the Naked palettes!
Here's a closer look at the shade range:
And, just in case you didn't believe me about it's similarity to Naked, take a look at this!

In conclusion...
If you are in the market for a neutral eyeshadow palette or have been thinking about going for the Urban Decay Naked, RUN to Walgreens and take a look at this true hidden gem in the drugstore!
