Disappointing Products

Although it might seem that way by the looks of my Four Favorites posts, I do not love every makeup product I try. Actually, I'm pretty critical of products when they don't live up to their claims, and especially if they have a high price tag. Recently, I've tried four expensive products that have disappointed me in one way or another, so I figured I would share them with you so that you can be warned!

Disappointing Products!

1. Too Faced Sweetheart Perfect Flush Blush - "Peach Beach"

I bought this product hoping that it would give me a beautiful, glowy, peachy blush look, but it did not live up to my expectations. The biggest problem I have with this is that the "glow" it claims to have is actually chunks of glitter, so instead of looking flawlessly glowy, it highlights pores and texture on the cheek. It also doesn't have great color payoff. It's cute packaging, but since it's so big, it's totally impractical for packing. All in all, it's just a "meh" product for me, and definitely not worth the price tag!

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation - "Ivory"

I'll start by saying that this product would be absolutely disastrous on dry skin. It clings to every single dry spot on my face, and my skin is oily! I like that this product looks pretty natural (on the non-dry spots) and stays fairly matte, and it does have a pretty easy application since it's a stick format, but it just doesn't do everything I want it to do. One of the biggest problems is that it's pretty difficult to blend, so it requires some effort with a brush. The price isn't terrible for a high-end foundation, but it doesn't perform well enough for me to buy it again.

3. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

I may make a lot of enemies putting this one in a disappointing products post! This is a cult favorite in the beauty community, so I finally bit the bullet and purchased it. I went for the travel size just in case I didn't like it, and I am glad I did that! It's not that this product is all that bad, it's just that I don't see enough of a difference between this and my usual pressed powders to justify the annoying process of using a loose powder. It's so messy and takes so much more time that I will never reach for this over easier-to-use products.

4. Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint - Rosé

I received this sample size in the 2017 Sephora Birthday Gift. I haven't ever really jumped on the matte liquid lipstick bandwagon, but I loved the color of this one so I gave it a try. Unfortunately, even though it's definitely a pretty color and lives up to its claim of being matte, it's way too drying on my lips to be comfortable. I wore it once and never wanted to again.
