Formal Event Makeup

In South Carolina, the Christmas season brings along with it Debutante Balls. My little sister, Abigail, just turned 20 and debuted at her first ball this week! These balls are beautiful, fancy events, so they involve a lot of beauty prep. As you might have guessed, I was recruited to do Abigail's makeup, and I figured I would show you what we did!

Skin

For a perfected base, we went with my trusty combination for oily skin. It also photographs beautifully, which was especially important for this event!

Cheeks

Once her base was flawless, we brought back the color and glow. Abigail loves bright pink blush because it brings life back to her very tan complexion, so we made this look all about the flushed cheeks.

Eyes

On her eyes, Abigail prefers muted brownish-grey tones, as well as pretty thick liquid eyeliner. We went with a brown liner to soften it up for this event, and we skipped lower lashline eyeliner to keep it from getting too smokey.

Lips

If there is one thing Abigail hates, it's wearing anything on her lips. After I convinced her she needed at least a little lipstick in order to look balanced, I promised I wouldn't go overboard. Since I knew she wouldn't want to reapply, I started with a lip liner for longevity. We topped it with a lipstick and some gloss for shine. The result was beautiful but understated; exactly what she wanted!
