Four Favorites: January 2017
11:46:00 AMWelcome to the first Four Favorites of the new year! Since I asked for a few (cough, cough) makeup products for Christmas, I have definitely found some new loves.
Four Favorites: January 2017
This may be slightly cheating, but you should definitely consider the Rimmel Magnif'Eyes palette that I just Spotlighted my fifth favorite of January! I just wanted to feature four new products here rather than bore you with more of the same rambling about why I love that one.
1. Zoeva En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette
For a long time now, I have been on the hunt for a really good, 100% cool-toned eyeshadow palette. For one reason or another, they are very few and far between. I came across this palette and decided it might be my best shot. Although it isn't perfect, there are some shades in here that I have not been able to stop using. "Gallery" is the perfect grey-ish crease shade, and I love to pair it with "Sheers and Voiles," "Outline," or "Wrapped in Silk" all over the lid. I have not had a chance to try out the peachier tones in this palette yet, but the cool-toned shades definitely have my seal of approval.
2. Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush - "Fetish"
Never having tried an Urban Decay single blush, I was very enticed by these. As always, I gravitated toward the most neutral looking one, but I worried that it would have a little too much of a mauve undertone to be flattering on my fair skin. In reality, that undertone only makes it more flattering! This blush is highly pigmented, smooth and easy to apply, and lasts all day long. Since it's matte, it doesn't interfere with whatever highlighting look I am going for that day, which I appreciate. And not that it matters all that much, but I really love the packaging, too.
3. Essence Pure Nude Highlighter - "Be My Highlight 001"
Finally, a drugstore highlighter that achieves the "naturally glowy," "lit-from-within" look that I always want! It can get a little less natural if you use a heavy hand, but with a fluffy brush and a light touch, it's really just perfect. I love that it has a bit of a peachy undertone; I think that just makes it look all the more life-like.
4. Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour - "Spiced Rose"
As the name suggests, these lipsticks are super creamy and hydrating, and the colors are beautiful. They aren't the most long-lasting, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make with a lipstick that keeps my lips from drying out. This color in particular is a beautiful wintery nude, and it would work on a lot of different skin tones. It's actually pretty similar to my all-time favorite (NARS Lipstick in "Dolce Vita"), but since it goes on more full-color and less sheer, it comes off darker and with more of a brown undertone.
